Charlotte & baby Annabelle

I had read a lot about home births and we made the decision around half way through my pregnancy to plan to have our baby at home. In order to give us the best chance of a successful home birth, we were keen to have consistency around who was providing our care and getting to know this individual ahead of the big day. We met Emily and Jo and immediately knew that they were the right midwives for us!

Emily and Jo are both supportive and pragmatic with their advice. They could answer all of our questions and made us feel very comfortable about the process and what to expect. Most of all, they gave us the confidence to plan a home birth and trust that my body was able to do it!

I was very clear with Emily and Jo that I wanted to have minimal intervention. They both respected this fully and I was able to enjoy the final few weeks of pregnancy without any pressure of due dates etc. I ended up going into labour at just over 41 weeks around midnight on 29th January. Emily and Jo arrived in the early hours and their approach was exactly what I needed; supportive yet respecting my privacy. They allowed me to progress through labour at my own pace and Annabelle arrived at 8.14am the following morning. It was a very serene arrival into the world and I couldn’t have wanted anything more for the delivery of our little girl.

We are now 3 months on and I have had numerous comments about Annabelle being such a happy, calm and content baby. I am sure this is testament to the environment in which she was born which could not have happened without these two special midwives. We will always be grateful for the support they provided to allow us to achieve this.
