What Is A Tongue Tie?
Tongue Tie (ankyloglossia) is a condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 babies and is when the membrane under the tongue (lingual frenulum) restricts tongue movement and function. This can affect the way your baby feeds — whether breastfed, bottle fed, or combination fed.
Tongue Tie Symptoms Include:
For the mother
- Sore, damaged or bruised nipples
- Low milk supply
- Mastitis
- Oversupply
- Exhaustion from frequent or very long feeds
For the baby
- Difficulty latching or slipping off the breast
- Clicking or dribbling during feeds
- Difficulty managing milk flow
- Long or very frequent feeds
- Slow weight gain or weight loss
- Excessive wind, fussiness or unsettled behaviour
- Difficulty with managing solid foods

Home And Clinic Appointments
Tongue Tie Appointments are available either in your home or at clinic in Taplow (SL6 0JU). Each Tongue Tie Appointment lasts up to 90 minutes and includes:
- Feeding support (breast, formula or combination)
- Full tongue tie assessment
- Tongue tie division (frenulotomy), if appropriate
- FREE wound healing check
- Ongoing support via phone, text or email after your visit
Emily also offers a Baby Weight & Wellbeing Appointment in clinic. This is a 30-minute check-up focussed on your baby's growth and health including:
- Accurate weight measurement using medical-grade scales, with results recorded in your baby's red book.
- Comprehensive assessment of your baby's overall health and wellbeing.
